Welcome to KT Smart OS
KT Smart OS is a companion app for KT controller-equipped electric bicycles. We take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the limited cases where data leaves your device. By using the app, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
Location Data
Used by the in-app turn-by-turn navigation feature to determine your position and provide directions. Collected only while the navigation feature is active.
Bluetooth Device Information
Used to discover, pair, and exchange data with KT controller-equipped electric bicycles. Bluetooth data is exchanged only between your phone and the e-bike, and is not transmitted to any remote server.
Ride Data
Speed, distance, time, elevation, energy usage and other riding statistics, recorded during your rides for your personal analytics.
Address Search Queries
When you search for an address or destination, the search query is sent to our mapping provider (Mapbox) to return matching results. Queries are not linked to your identity.
2. How We Use Your Information
Local Storage by Default
All ride history, e-bike settings, and personal statistics are stored locally on your device. We do not operate any servers that store your data.
No Account Required
KT Smart OS does not require user registration. We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or any personally identifying information.
No Marketing, No Selling
We do not sell your data, do not share it with advertisers, and do not use it for marketing communication.
3. Third-Party Services
To provide map and navigation features, KT Smart OS uses Mapbox's SDK and APIs. Mapbox may collect a limited amount of anonymized data on our behalf. We have no influence over Mapbox's internal data handling beyond what is documented in their public privacy policy.
Mapbox SDK — Telemetry Data
When you use map features, Mapbox collects anonymized telemetry including approximate device location, an anonymous device identifier (IDFV on iOS), and basic SDK usage events. This data is used by Mapbox to improve their map products and is not linked to your identity. See the Mapbox Privacy Policy.
Mapbox Search
Address search queries you type are sent to Mapbox's geocoding service and are processed to return matching results.
4. Data Security
HTTPS Encryption
All network communications (including those with Mapbox) use HTTPS/TLS encryption.
Minimal Permissions
The app requests only the permissions strictly required for functionality (Bluetooth, Location, Photos for saving share images).
Sandboxed Local Storage
Local data is stored within the app's iOS/Android sandbox and is not accessible to other apps.
5. Your Rights & Choices
Review and Delete Your Data
You can review and delete your ride history at any time within the app. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data.
Revoke Permissions
You can revoke Bluetooth, Location, or Photo permissions at any time in your device's system settings. Some app features will become unavailable accordingly.
Opt Out of Map Analytics
To opt out of Mapbox's anonymized telemetry, disable Location services for KT Smart OS in your iOS Settings. Note that this also disables in-app navigation.
